DESCRIPTION

The iconic Scone Palace is set on the perimeter of the City of Perth on the banks of the famous River Tay.

Immerse yourself in Scotland’s history as you experience the crowning place of Scottish kings. Stand on the Moot Hill, where the Kings of Scots including Robert the Bruce and Macbeth were inaugurated, and later crowned on the famous Stone of Scone.

Today this historic landmark is recognised as one of Scotland’s most popular attractions and 2016 sees us mark another very special milestone – our 50th anniversary – having first opened our doors to visitors in the Spring of 1966. Since then, Scone Palace has welcomed millions of visitors from around the world and looks forward to welcoming you.

Our visitors can enjoy the Palace and its rare and beautiful collections. Walk along the Long Gallery, once the longest room in Scotland where Charles II processed to his Coronation and where Queen Victoria watched a display of the sport of curling. Our attentive and knowledgeable guides are on hand in each of the State Rooms and are happy to answer any questions you may have.

There are over 100 acres of spectacular grounds and gardens to enjoy in the land of David Douglas, one of Scotland’s most famous plant hunters who once worked as a gardener at Scone Palace. Not to be missed is the wonderful Murray star maze which can prove a challenge for all ages and for younger visitors there is a children’s playground. This seasonal Scottish landscape is ever changing and looks wonderful which ever time of year you visit.

Since 2014 visitors have been able to enjoy a luxurious stay in the 5-star, self-catering Balvaird apartment which is located in the west aspect of the Palace, with 3 beautifully decorated en-suite bedrooms sleeping up to 6 guests. There is a fully equipped dining kitchen and comfortable sitting room making this an ideal base to explore the highlights of Scotland.
