DESCRIPTION

Explore over 30 reconstructed historic buildings, including an Iron Age roundhouse, 1940s pre-fab, blacksmith’s forge, Victorian Toll House, Tin Chapel, Nissen Hut, Earthen Cottage and working historic farm, set in 45 acres of beautiful Chilterns countryside.   The museum’s working farm previously used in the filming of Downton abbey is home to our working heavy horses, goats, sheep, chickens, cows and farm cats.   Kids will love playing in the heritage adventure playground, inspired by the Museum’s historic buildings, they can hide in the Anderson shelter, slide out of the Shepherds hut and climb the Toll house.   Explore the woodland trail and borrow a free audio guide and activity pack. Throughout the buildings there are plenty of opportunities to dress up and play with historic toys and games.   There is always lots of hands-on activities and over 20 re-enactments and special events a year suitable for the entire family. For more details visit www.coam.org.uk.

The museum will be open for the 2016 season from 25th March 2016 - 28th October 2016.

Advice for Coach Drivers

The museum is in a rural setting, and approached down country lanes.  The lane to the museum from the Maple Cross direction is particularly narrow.  We recommend coaches approach the museum from Chalfont St Peter.  Turn off the A413 at the Waggon and Horses Pub, and then drive up Chesham Lane to join Gorelands Lane.
