Our volunteers have rescued and restored over 30 old stationary steam engines, some of the engines which once powered the cotton mills and woollen mills of the North of England.  Most will be running in steam on these days only, as the Museum is normally closed.

We have a wide range of different types of engine.  Our oldest engine is almost 180 years old, and most of the engines are over 100 years old.  Come and see these magnificent monsters restored and in action once again!  A magical place, especially for young boys, and ideal in wet weather.

On steam days only, there is a small café selling drinks and snacks. Tables with limited seating are available nearby.

On most Bank Holiday weekends (except Easter), the engines are all working in steam and can be seen in motion under power.
